Musician Bio
AL SERRANI - Vocals, Guitars, Keyboards and Sound & Recording Engineer |
 |
 |
Biographical Info:
Al Serrani was born in Philadelphia, PA, and was raised in southern NJ. He began playing guitar at 10 years old and for the most part, he was self taught. After learning guitar, he picked up playing keyboards and singing. In a short period of time, he was able to pick up songs by ear and play them in their entirety. This enabled him to work in steady agency-backed bands and was very much in demand at a very young age. At almost the same time, he started playing, writing and recording his own songs, and shortly later, he was performing those songs with various bands that he put together, as well as working steady in cover acts to support a consistent livelihood.
His favorite type of music was progressive rock, and he pursued that avenue with a vengeance, thus giving him a highly technical edge to his playing. One of those bands he emulated was Genesis. While still young, he learned the vocals, guitar and keys to all their songs and began playing them with various bands and in different venues.
In recent years, he installed a fully operational recording studio in his house where he records his originals and classic Genesis material. Today, his current accomplishments include putting together a very popular Genesis tribute band called Firth of Fifth, as well as starting a web site, FirthOfFifth.com that features downloads of Genesis. This site has become part of the official Genesis online web-ring. He has been recently playing concerts to hungry fellow Genesis fans, along with his originals under his original band, Armada. |
